News, Rants, and Raves from the Arizona Desert

Crawfish in the Desert?

Tonight we finally tried a restaurant that we’ve been passing for the past few months.

The restaurant looked interesting.  The Cajun Seafood Corner Restaurant is in Mesa, AZ - South of Baseline on Dobson.  Cajun seafood in Arizona? Hmmm?

So we and some friends went to the Cajun Seafood Corner just hoping they had crawfish.

The restaurant was very casual and had the atmosphere of a Louisiana bar/restaurant.  With about a dozen tables and a well-stocked bar, it looked like you could seat about 60 people.

Within a minutes of sitting down we could see plates of crawfish being brought out to other tables.

Mmmm… crawfish!

So with a decent menu of jambalaya, etoufe, poor boys, and gumbo, they also carried clams, shrimp and escargot.  Wow… we knew we’d be back!

We ordered 5 pounds of crawfish, some gumbo, jambalaya, and corn and potatoes.   It came in a few different flavors.  I  got a pound in the “whole shabang” (butter, garlic, and spicy sauce.)  Damn it was good.  I had some doubts about crawfish in Arizona, but they were large and tasty!  (Ok, maybe not the huge crawfish boild that bob and I had in Shreveport a while ago, but still awesome!)

We finished all the crawfish very easily… so we ordered a few more pounds.

Downed with a few beers and topped off with a few beignets, this place was awesome!

I do have to admit that the bill was pretty hefty, but if you love crawfish (and other cajun seafood) it’s definitely worth it!

I think we’re already making plans to come back on Saturday!
