Snapshots From My Life

Piece O’Crap

April 9th, 2008 admin

Damn my phone.  I’ve had a Treo 755p for the past 6 months, and I love the phone.  It’s a perfect size and feels nice in your hand.  Ok, the Palm operating system sucks, but I can deal with a few random reboots every once in a while.  It was never really that bad.   But over the past couple weeks, my phone has started to crap out.  The phone will ring and the mic works, but the  built-in earpiece doesn’t work.  it’s happened twice now.  So I took it in to my favorite sprint tech (sis-in-law) and she swapped it out with another treo.  They didn’t have the same phone so I go the cheaper and smaller (and I think chincier) version called the Centro.  We’ll see how this one holds out… so far, I’m not really a fan of the smooth plastic black mettalic speckled surface.

I may end up getting a Blackberry from work, so maybe it’ll be a moot point anyway… we’ll see.

Crawfish in the Desert?

Tonight we finally tried a restaurant that we’ve been passing for the past few months.

The restaurant looked interesting.  The Cajun Seafood Corner Restaurant is in Mesa, AZ - South of Baseline on Dobson.  Cajun seafood in Arizona? Hmmm?

So we and some friends went to the Cajun Seafood Corner just hoping they had crawfish.

The restaurant was very casual and had the atmosphere of a Louisiana bar/restaurant.  With about a dozen tables and a well-stocked bar, it looked like you could seat about 60 people.

Within a minutes of sitting down we could see plates of crawfish being brought out to other tables.

Mmmm… crawfish!

So with a decent menu of jambalaya, etoufe, poor boys, and gumbo, they also carried clams, shrimp and escargot.  Wow… we knew we’d be back!

We ordered 5 pounds of crawfish, some gumbo, jambalaya, and corn and potatoes.   It came in a few different flavors.  I  got a pound in the “whole shabang” (butter, garlic, and spicy sauce.)  Damn it was good.  I had some doubts about crawfish in Arizona, but they were large and tasty!  (Ok, maybe not the huge crawfish boild that bob and I had in Shreveport a while ago, but still awesome!)

We finished all the crawfish very easily… so we ordered a few more pounds.

Downed with a few beers and topped off with a few beignets, this place was awesome!

I do have to admit that the bill was pretty hefty, but if you love crawfish (and other cajun seafood) it’s definitely worth it!

I think we’re already making plans to come back on Saturday!

New Look

April 5th, 2008 admin

As you can see, I’ve finally changed up my site. It will be a work in progress while I get used to the new blogging system.

I used to be an avid fan of blogger. I used the system since the beginning of my blogging adventure, but frequent updating problems and lack of real control started to bug the shit out of me.

So… voila… welcome to Wordpress. I’ve been testing it for the past month or so, and I’ve finally made it live on my site. It will be a while before I can have the whole system running with the additional pages that I had in my previous site.

Eh… a little change is good every once in a while!
